((AN:// I typed this after feeling left out by some friends in highschool I felt did not appreciate me. Maybe it was because I was a girl and that they were guys that they didn't understand me, or maybe it was because I didn't tell them how I felt and just took the emotional turmoil. Either way this is a large metaphor for how I and possibly how others felt/feel.))

Back in the 80s,

Scientists did  experiments on rats in laboratories.

There was one experiment in particular that the scientists would perform on lab rats. The experiment was to see which rats would starve themselves to death, and which rats would eat till they died of electrocution.

They would feed the rats very little food, barely enough to keep the rats alive, and in their cages a large sum of food.

But, the large sum of food was electrified, and if the rats tried to eat, they would get zapped.

Most of the rats stopped eating all together, fearing the normal food, and died.

A small, small few learned to eat and be electrocuted. Eventually they died too from the zapping, but they died well fed. Those rats died by putting up with the scientists torture till it killed them.

In the end, all the rats died, and the experiment was a success for the scientists.
